In the community
Local Action
1st Team believes strongly in supporting programs in the local community. We are involved in numerous activities annually and ongoing including:
- matching staff donation dollars to the United Way
- supporting the Canadian Cancer Society and the CIBC Run for the Cure
- supporting the BC Heart & Stroke Foundation
- getting involved in the Victoria Corporate Rowing Challenge
- supporting the Salvation Army and Westshore Rotary
Junior Development
Over the years, the company has supported dozens of children's sports organizations including soccer, hockey, lacrosse and baseball teams. Currently, we are sponsoring the Juan de Fuca Hockey League and Victoria Minor Hockey.
Promoting Higher Learning
1st Team plays an active role in sponsoring higher learning through an annual scholarship to Royal Roads University for Excellence in Environmental Studies. Our president, Stewart Parkinson, also sits on the Camosun College Foundation Board.
Global Awareness
In 2004, we were proud to support the Langford Fire Department in their trip to Kabul, Afghanistan to donate used fire fighting equipment and train local firefighters.
